Over 900 fans have been enjoying David Christie’s Doo Dah Diaries
In 2006 a lifelong Bonzos fan in England, David Christie, was inspired to try and piece together for himself the history of the band.
Discovering that there had been a whole assortment of musicians that had passed through the ranks of the Bonzos, David decided to focus the history on just the artistic activities of what he considered to be the eight key Bonzos:
Rodney Slater
Vivian Stanshall
Vernon Dudley Bowhay Nowell
Sam Spoons
Neil Innes
Roger Ruskin Spear
“Legs” Larry Smith
Bob Kerr
David also decided that he would share the history with other like-minded fans but rather than a one-off book, he wanted a format that would provide the opportunity to add additional history and correct any errors. Over the years David tried different hard copy formats but they became expensive to print and post so now they are offered as PDF files.

As an educational research project shared between the Members, it meant that information could be freely shared without any concerns of copyright infringement.
Whilst undertaking all these activities, David was fortunate enough to make contact and become friends with the surviving Bonzos and many of the associated musicians. He often helped them at shows, and as a result gained more information and memorabilia to use in the Diaries along with the photographs that he took at the shows.
Meanwhile in Germany, another lifelong Bonzos fan, Martin Storkmann, had been collecting memorabilia of the Bonzos and trying to research the history of the band and in 2015 discovered the Doo Dah Diaries. That proved to be the seed of a friendship, which led to a new international phase of the Doo Dah Diaries.

The same as David, Martin enjoyed the ‘detective work’ involved in trying to establish the true facts amongst the myriad of misinformation and he also shared David’s passion for writing the history in a way that was not only accurate but also easy to understand and entertaining.
Martin brought another valuable aspect to the Doo Dah Diaries, developing Family Trees, providing an easy review of the forever changing line-ups of the band.
